Job Title: Ranch & Cattle Drive Nanny

Location: Various ranch locations for cattle drives, with off-weeks spent at the main ranch.

Position Type: Seasonal, Full-time

Duration: Summer Season (May-August)

Job Description:

We are seeking energetic, responsible, and adventurous individuals to join our team as Summer Long Nannies for our unique cattle drive camping experience. On our cattle drives, we host 20 guests in the Bighorn Mountains, camping, cooking, and cowboying the way we have for 130+ years. This position offers the exciting opportunity to care for 3-6 young children while camping on six separate week-long cattle drives. This nanny will be caring for children and camping with us outdoors, through all weather conditions. In addition to childcare responsibilities during cattle drives, babysitters will assist kitchen staff with pre and post cattle drive tasks during the weeks between cattle drives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide attentive and nurturing care for 3-6 young children (ages ranging from infant to pre-teen) during cattle drives, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

  • Plan and engage children in age-appropriate outdoor activities, games, and educational experiences that align with the camping environment.

  • Maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere for children throughout the duration of the cattle drives, fostering a sense of adventure and exploration.

  • Collaborate with other staff members to coordinate daily schedules, meal times, and any special requirements or activities for the children.

  • Assist kitchen staff with meal preparation, grocery shopping and cleanup duties during off-weeks between cattle drives.

  • Aid in general camp maintenance tasks, including cleaning, organizing, and other duties as assigned by camp management.

  • Act as a role model for children, demonstrating responsibility, respect for nature, and enthusiasm for outdoor living.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with children in a childcare, camp counseling, or teaching capacity is highly desirable.

  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and fellow staff members.

  • Enthusiasm for outdoor activities, camping, and experiencing life on a working ranch.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules and responsibilities based on the needs of the camp.

  • Certification in CPR and first aid preferred (or willingness to obtain certification prior to start date).

  • Must be physically fit (able to bend/squat/carry/lift up to 50 pounds) and capable of participating in outdoor activities, hiking at a high elevation (9,000+ ft), and potentially assisting with ranch chores or kitchen tasks as needed.

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record may be required for transportation between camp locations.
